Urgent veterinary care for the health, sanitation and comfort of pets is considered to be an essential service. Therefore, we are remaining open at this time, with reduced hours. We have made some significant changes in how we are handling your visits and transactions. Please call the clinic at 760-758-2092 before coming down for ANY reason. DO NOT COME TO THE CLINIC IF YOU ARE OR A FAMILY MEMBER IS ILL. We are sending out email with updates to all clients, whenever necessary. See below for the text of those emails. We would appreciate your understanding and compliance during this serious time. Our staff wishes to stay healthy during this time so that we may continue to serve your pet’s needs. We thank you, in advance, for observing our established protocol designed to minimize the risk to our staff and to you, our valued client.

Social Distancing Protocol:

The following rules will apply to all visitors to our clinic:

1) Call to make an appointment prior to bringing your pet to be seen for any reason. Unless we are likely to need a urinalysis, have your pet urinate and defecate before leaving the house for your appointment.
2) DO NOT COME TO THE CLINIC IF YOU AND/OR A FAMILY MEMBER ARE ILL. If you have made an appointment and then become ill, please call to cancel. There is no penalty for last minute cancellations.
3) Please wear a face covering as required by San Diego County Health Department.
4) WHEN YOU ARRIVE, CALL FROM YOUR CAR. 760-758-2091. REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE (with your pet, if applicable). DO NOT ENTER THE BUILDING. The receptionist will take a medical history and ask you pertinent questions over the phone. We will ask for payment information at this time. Your credit/debit card will be charged and you will receive your invoice via email after your appointment is complete. NOTE: If you call and you are asked to hold, say “I’m calling to check in” (this will eliminate or reduce your hold time.)
5) YOU WILL REMAIN IN YOUR CAR AND YOUR PET WILL BE TAKEN INTO THE CLINIC FOR EXAMINATION/TREATMENT. Dr. Porte will call you to discuss diagnosis and/or recommended diagnostics and treatments.
6) If you are coming for PRESCRIPTIONS, PET FOOD or other supplies, CALL AHEAD TO HAVE THEM PREPARED. You will be asked for your credit/debit card number when you place your order. Once your order is ready, you will receive a text message from our staff. Prescriptions called in before noon will be ready the same day. Prescriptions called in after noon, will be ready the next business day. (Please allow additional time for controlled substances.) For pet food, please allow at least a two hour prep time.
7) FOR PRESCRIPTION AND FOOD PICK UP. Upon arriving at the clinic, OPEN YOUR TRUNK, REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE and call the clinic to let us know you have arrived. 760-758-2091. If you call and you are asked to hold, say “I’m calling to pick up medication (or food)” (this will eliminate or reduce your hold time.)
8) NO CHILDREN (UNDER 18) WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE CLINIC FOR ANY REASON.

We already have a high level sanitation protocol in place for your pet’s protection. For your protection, we will be increasing our sanitation protocols for all surfaces that come into contact with people, such as door handles, chairs, pens, clipboards, etc.
Thank you for your cooperation in adhering to these mandated protocols. We want to continue to serve you and your pets while keeping you and our staff as safe as possible.
